About

Journey with Meaning – Connecting Humanity, Nature, and the Cosmos

Khahare Eco Tours & Treks (KET) is a Nepal-based travel company rooted in Khahare, Dakshinkali Municipality, Kathmandu. We create meaningful journeys that bring travelers closer to Nepal’s landscapes, communities, traditions, and everyday way of life.

Our approach goes beyond conventional sightseeing. We believe travel should create genuine connections — with local people, nature, heritage, culture, and the places that make Nepal extraordinary.

From trekking and wildlife experiences to village stays, cultural journeys, community visits, and adventure activities, our aim is to help guests experience Nepal in a way that is personal, responsible, and authentic.

Our Story

Khahare Eco Tours & Treks was founded in 2023 by Santosh Chhetri, whose work in tourism, community development, education, and environmental sustainability spans more than two decades.

Santosh holds a Master’s degree in Business Management and Tourism Hospitality and has spent much of his professional life working closely with communities, international visitors, students, volunteers, educators, and development initiatives in Nepal.

He is also a co-founder of the Kevin Rohan Memorial Eco Foundation (KRMEF) and the Ankuran Waldorf Inspired School. Through this work, he has been involved in areas including organic and biodynamic farming, environmental sustainability, community education, social empowerment, and holistic local development.

Over the years, Santosh and the wider community in Khahare have welcomed international student groups, volunteers, researchers, and visitors from different parts of the world. These experiences provided a deep understanding of what international travelers need — not only reliable logistics and well-organized travel, but also opportunities to form genuine connections with the people and places they visit.

Khahare Eco Tours grew naturally from that experience.

A Local Perspective with Global Experience

Santosh’s travels and international exposure have also influenced the philosophy behind Khahare Eco Tours.

His journeys across Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, France, Italy, Belgium, the United States, India, and Qatar introduced him to different cultures, communities, and approaches to hospitality.

At the same time, those experiences strengthened his appreciation for what makes Nepal distinctive — its landscapes, ancient heritage, village life, traditions, diversity, spirituality, and the warmth of its people.

That combination of local roots and international experience shapes the way KET welcomes travelers today.

Travel That Connects You with Nepal

At Khahare Eco Tours, we want visitors to experience more than famous destinations.

A journey may take you into the Himalayas, through historic cities, into national parks, or along well-known trekking routes. But some of the most memorable moments can also come from sharing food with a local family, walking through a village, learning how people cultivate the land, hearing the stories behind a tradition, or simply spending time with the people who call Nepal home.

This is why our journeys are designed around connection rather than simply moving from one attraction to another.

We work with solo travelers, families, groups, students, volunteers, institutions, and visitors looking for experiences that can be adapted to their interests, schedules, and travel needs.

Alongside carefully planned travel experiences, KET provides professional travel and logistical support to help guests move through Nepal safely, comfortably, and confidently.

Tourism with a Positive Purpose

Responsible tourism is central to the way we work.

We believe tourism should benefit the places people travel to, not simply pass through them. Wherever possible, we encourage experiences that support local livelihoods, respect cultural traditions, strengthen communities, and reduce unnecessary environmental impact.

Our close relationship with community and environmental initiatives in Khahare has given us firsthand experience of how tourism, education, agriculture, conservation, and community development can support one another.

When travel is approached responsibly, the benefits can extend far beyond the journey itself.

Atithi Devo Bhava

At the heart of Santosh’s philosophy is the timeless South Asian principle:

“Atithi Devo Bhava” — the guest is like God.

For us, this means hospitality is more than providing a service.

It means welcoming people sincerely, taking responsibility for their experience, sharing Nepal with pride, and treating every guest with care and respect.

Whether someone comes to Nepal for trekking, cultural exploration, wildlife, adventure, study, volunteering, or simply curiosity, we want them to leave with more than photographs.

We want them to leave with a connection to Nepal.

Our Mission

Our mission is to create meaningful and responsible travel experiences that connect people with Nepal’s communities, cultures, landscapes, and natural environment.

We aim to provide reliable and thoughtfully organized travel while encouraging tourism that respects local traditions, supports communities, protects the environment, and creates positive experiences for both travelers and hosts.

Our Vision

We envision tourism as a bridge between people.

A way to experience different cultures with curiosity and respect.

A way to support communities while protecting the places that make travel possible.

And a way for visitors to experience Nepal not only as a destination, but as a place of people, stories, traditions, landscapes, and relationships.

For us, travel is not simply about seeing Nepal. It is about connecting with Nepal, experiencing it with respect, and leaving a positive footprint behind.

Plan your journey with Khahare Eco Tours & Treks — and experience Nepal with meaning.
