Lumbini, a serene and sacred forest, served as the perfect setting for the birth of Prince Siddhartha. During her journey, Queen Mayadevi paused at Lumbini, and while strolling through its tranquil surroundings, she gave birth to the Prince. Today, Lumbini stands as a significant Buddhist pilgrimage site. In his Mahaparinirvana Sutta, Lord Buddha himself highlighted Lumbini as one of the four principal destinations for those seeking ultimate liberation. Visitors can witness the very place where Lord Buddha, the harbinger of peace and spiritual awakening, was born. Lumbini offers a serene atmosphere, ideal for meditation and peaceful reflection.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Kathmandu to Lumbini

  • Morning : Depart from Kathmandu early in the morning. You can travel by flight (approx. 40 minutes) or by road (approx. 7-8 hours).
  • Afternoon : Arrive in Lumbini and check in to your hotel.
  • Evening : Take a leisurely stroll around the Lumbini Garden and enjoy the serene ambiance. Rest and prepare for the next day’s exploration.

Day 2 : Explore Lumbini

  • Morning :
    • Visit the Maya Devi Temple, the exact spot where Lord Buddha was born.
    • Explore the sacred Puskarini Pond, where Queen Mayadevi is believed to have bathed before giving birth.
    • Walk through the Sacred Garden, filled with ancient ruins and spiritual significance.
  • Afternoon :
    • Explore the Monastic Zone, home to monasteries built by various Buddhist communities from around the world.
    • Visit the Ashokan Pillar, erected by Emperor Ashoka during his pilgrimage to honor Lord Buddha’s birthplace

Day 3 : Optional Excursions and Return to Kathmandu

  • Morning :
    • Visit nearby attractions, such as Tilaurakot, the ancient capital of Kapilavastu, believed to be the childhood home of Prince Siddhartha.
    • Explore Kudan Stupa, associated with significant events in Lord Buddha’s life.
  • Afternoon : Begin your journey back to Kathmandu by road or take a flight.
  • Evening : Arrive in Kathmandu and conclude your trip.
